Pop singer Justin Timberlake is teaming up with well-known film director and screenwriter Craig Brewer to release a film called “Memphis to the Bone.”
The film premiered on Grizzlies.com at 11:30 Monday morning, and WMC Action News 5 learned it was all about Marc Gasol.
Brewer and Timberlake are both from the Memphis area.
Many said the video is a clever push to try to keep Gasol in Memphis.
“Marc is Memphis,” Timberlake said in the video. “He goes to work. He grits; he grinds.”
Gasol is a free agent and the bidding war to claim him begins Wednesday.
“We wouldn’t mind keeping our guy on,” said Grizzlies fan James Webb. “The great Gasol done taught us all.”
Gasol was an All-Star this year and is arguably the NBA’s best center after making the NBA All-Pro team.
“Memphis definitely needs him,” said Grizzlies fan Ezra Wheeler. “I think he’s the greatest center in the league and don’t want to lose that.”

Oscar Isaac stars as Llewyn Davis, a singer navigating New York during the 1960′s folk music scene. The film is based loosely on the memoir The Mayor of MacDougal Street by Dave Van Ronk, though the character is apparently not based on Van Rank.
Joel and Ethan Coen wrote and directed the film, which is eyeing a premiere at Cannes. Watch the Inside Llewyn Davis trailer for a preview.
