um…. Engagement? …

So I wake up and my dad’s friend was like so didja hear your boy got engaged, then checked my email and about 400 other people said the same lol. unfortunately, WoJ can not confirm nor deny this claim at the moment. The only websites reporting this are ones I have never heard of.
It is the holiday season, which could give reason for asking, but at the same time that is exactly what the tabloids think when writing a story.

Predictions: Justin Timberlake, Gwyneth Paltrow will win Creative Arts Emmys
According to the predictions here at Gold Derby, Justin Timberlake and Gwyneth Paltrow will be among the winners when the Creative Arts Emmys are doled out on Saturday. While the top acting and series prizes will be awarded to the year’s best shows at next Sunday’s Primetime Emmys, the lion’s share of prizes honoring art directors, cinematographers, editors, casting directors, and so on will be presented at the Creative Arts as will the four Emmys for guest acting in comedy and drama.
Singer-turned-actor Timberlake is already a two-time winner for guest hosting “Saturday Night Live” and for co-writing “D*ck in a Box” with Andy Samberg. This year he has two more chances to win. He’s nominated twice in the songwriting race – for “3-Way (The Golden Rule)” and his opening musical monologue on “SNL” – and is expected to win a second Guest Comedy Actor trophy for his hosting duties on the NBC sketch comedy. He last won in 2009 and is considered the overwhelming favorite to repeat according to our Gold Derby predictions center. Editors are unanimous, and a majority of experts and users agree, giving him decisive 2/5 odds. “Modern Family” guest star Nathan Lane is a distant second at 15/2, followed by “The Big C‘s” Idris Elba (14/1) and “30 Rock‘s” Matt Damon (25/1).
Tina Fey is also a guest-acting nominee for “Saturday Night Live.” Like Timberlake, she won in 2009, but her outlook this year is less rosy, with 16/1 odds. Instead, Guest Comedy Actress appears to be a close race between Oscar-winners Paltrow (“Glee“) and Cloris Leachman (“Raising Hope“). Experts favor Leachman, and for good reason; she has won nine acting Emmys, more than anyone in the award’s history, two of which came in this category (2002 and 2006, both for “Malcolm in the Middle”). But most editors and users expect Paltrow to prevail, following the lead of Gold Derby’s Rob Licuria and Chris Beachum, who weren’t impressed by Leachman’s submitted episode. As a result, Paltrow has a slight edge with even odds, with Leachman close behind at 8/5.

New: Third ‘In Time’ Trailer
By my count we’ve now seen three trailers for In Time, the Andrew Niccol-directed thriller starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. The first was a teaser shown at Comic Con and debuting online a few days later, setting up in very basic text the concept of a future in which time, not money, is the primary unit of currency. Timberlake plays a working class guy who, for mysterious reasons, is handed years and years of time by a rich man with a death wish. He’s then forced to go on the run from the authorities who think he’s murdered the man, and takes with him as a hostage Amanda Seyfried, the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in his city (played by Mad Men‘s Vincent Kartheiser).
That trailer was followed up quickly by another trailer that premiered at Access Hollywood but mysteriously disappeared not long after. Now a third, glorious HD trailer has finally shown up at Apple, and you can also watch it embedded below. It’s the best of the three, clearly establishing the rules of this world while also hinting at some excellent chase scenes, and even giving us the unsettling sight of Olivia Wilde playing Justin Timberlake’s mom (remember, in this world, your wealth = time, and that means you never age). Check it all out below.

Emmy Showdown: Who will win battle for Best Comedy Guest Actor? [Video]

Timberlake also picked up two bids for songs he wrote for the show; he won that award in 2007 for the ditty “Dick in a Box” that he sung with “SNL” regular Andy Samberg during his second hosting gig. This time around, Timberlake shone in his opening monologue as well as a number of sketches including “The Barry Gibb Talk Show.” The producers were so pleased with his episode that it was submitted in the series, directing and writing races as well.
Zach Galifianakis returned to host “SNL” for a second time and knocked it out of the park with his “Annie” impersonation during the opening monologue. That moment was one of the most memorable of the season.
Will Arnett reaped his third guest nod for playing Devin Banks on “30 Rock.” In the episode “Plan B,” the former rival to Jack (Alec Baldwin) longs to return to the executive suite. Arnett lost his 2008 race to fellow “30 Rock” guest Tim Conway and last year’s bid to “Glee” guest Neil Patrick Harris. Matt Damon earned his first Emmy acting bid (after three for producing reality series “Project Greenlight”) for his “30 Rock” role as a love interest for Liz Lemon (TIna Fey). In “Double-Edged Sword,” his character, an airline pilot named Carol, refuses to take off following a fight on the flight with Liz.
Two-time Tony Award champ Nathan Lane (“Forum,” “The Producers”) contends for the third time in this race following bids in 1995 for “Frasier” (he lost to Carl Reiner on “Mad About You”) and in 1998 for “Mad About You” (Mel Brooks won the second of three in a row for guesting on that laffer). Lane played Pepper Saltzman, a flamboyant friend of Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) twice this season on “Modern Family.” In the second of these appearances — “Boys’ Night” — the three of them are joined by Jay (Ed O’Neill), who forges a surprising bond with Pepper.
Move/Mini Best Actor nominee Idris Elba (“Luther”) played a potential love interest for Laura Linney‘s character Cathy on “The Big C.” However, his screen time as Lenny in the episode “Blue-Eyed Iris” was limited.

Comic-Con: Panel Footage/Teaser
IGN has your front row seat for the footage shown at the In Time Comic-Con panel — the Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried sci-fi thriller!!!!!!!
Amazing!
Writer/director Andrew Niccol’s (Gattaca) latest sci-fi flick was featured as part of today’s Hall H panel for Fox. The film stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, and Olivia Wilde, and takes place in a futuristic society where aging can be stopped, thereby making remaining years the most coveted form of currency. Hit the jump to read my recap of the panel.
Moderator Damon Lindelof opens by talking about his love for The Truman Show (which Niccol wrote) and Gattaca (which Niccol wrote and directed). Niccol comes out and says in the world of the film the poor die and the rich don’t live. Aging stops at 25 years, after which you’re given one year to live unless you can trade for more time.
When asked about the casting, Niccol says he was searching for old souls and young souls, since the cast has to look like they’re 25 years old physically.
We were shown a reel of footage that played like an extended trailer. The footage opens with Timberlake’s character, a working class man who has one year left. He meets Matt Bomer’s character in a bar, who has a century worth of currency. After an altercation with Alex Pettyfer’s character, Bomer decides to give Timberlake his remaining time revealing that he’s 105 years old. After Bomer’s character runs out of time (therefore dying) and falls off a bridge, Cillian Murphy shows up playing a law enforcement official. They “follow the time” and find out that Timberlake has Bomer’s remaining time, suspecting him of murdering Bomer.
Timerblake travels to an upscale city where everyone seems to be much older than the urban neighborhoods he frequented at the beginning. It’s here that he meets Amanda Seyfried, whose father is played by Pete Campbell. The two must then go on the run (I’m not entirely sure why she has to run away with him), as they’re running out of time.
The tone and world is extremely similar to Gattaca. It’s a realistic future, and the In Time universe comes across perfectly. The cast is great and the story is super intriguing. The future doesn’t come across as hokey and the plot is played very straightforward, making the stakes believable.
Lindelof then brings out Timberlake and Seyfried. Timberlake talks about being a big fan of Gattaca and The Truman Show, as well as The Fugitive, whose similarities appealed to him about the project. Lindelof points out that Olivia Wilde plays Timberlake’s mother in the film, and then bring up Timberlake’s SNL song “Motherlover” with Andy Samberg.
I’m a huge fan of Gattaca, and this looks like a definite return to form for Niccol in the sci-fi genre.

First Look at Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in Andrew Niccol’s ‘In Time’

20th Century Fox just sent over the first two stills (view them in the slideshow above) from the Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfriend thriller In Time from director Andrew Niccol (Lord of War). The feature revolves around a society in which aging stops at the age of 25 and the rich are immortal, while the rest struggle to stay alive.
Timberlake plays Will Salas who is falsely accused of murder, he must figure out a way to bring down a system where time is money – literally – enabling the wealthy to live forever while the poor, like Will, have to beg, borrow, and steal enough minutes to make it through another day. Will is forced to go on the run with a hostage (Seyfried) and together this duo rages against the system, living minute to minute.
Fox is expected to preview the first trailer for the film this Thursday at San Diego’s Comic Con and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was released online around the same time. Timberlake, Seyfried and Niccol will be on hand in San Diego to warm up the crowd.
In Time co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Cillian Murphy and Bella Heathcote and is set to hit theaters on October 28, 2011.

Specific Media CEO Talks MySpace and Justin Timberlake

Not only did little-known ad tech company Specific Media acquire the once-mighty MySpace from News Corp. for $35 million in cash and stock today, but it secured Justin Timberlake as an equity investor and creative player in the process.
As a condition of the sale, MySpace let go of half of its 500 employees; News Corp. will retain a 5% stake in the site.
We asked Specific Media CEO Tim Vanderhook what in particular he saw in MySpace, which lost close to $651 million in the 12 months ended in March; how he got Mr. Timberlake involved; and what the plan is now.
Ad Age: You said you will maintain the MySpace brand and that it will operate as a subsidiary within Specific Media. CEO Mike Jones said he’ll be leaving in a few months. Who’s going to be in charge of MySpace?
Tim Vanderhook: We don’t have that person today. The one thing we were looking for immediately was bringing Justin Timberlake in — we were looking for someone to drive creative strategy. But as for day-to-day, myself and my brother Chris will take over day-to-day.
Ad Age: So there won’t be a MySpace CEO anymore, but more of a general manager type?
Mr. Vanderhook: That’s correct. Specific is just going to handle the ad sales side, and MySpace will be focused on the community.
Ad Age:: How did Justin Timberlake get involved?
Mr. Vanderhook: As we started to recognize this transaction was going to happen, the one thing we wanted was help from the creative community. We thought, “Who is the most talented person for this?” And it was really Justin. We saw different groups of people, and he got incredibly passionate about it.
Ad Age: So, Justin Timberlake has a minority stake in the overall business. Did he put in his own money?
Mr. Vanderhook: Yes, his own money.
Ad Age: How much of his own money?
Mr. Vanderhook: I can’t tell you that.
Ad Age: What will be his role at MySpace? Will he be there day-to-day?
Mr. Vanderhook: Justin is a very busy person with many careers. He will have an office in MySpace, and he’ll have a team there. Probably not going to be there every day.
Ad Age: Do you think he was inspired by the role he played in the movie about Facebook, “The Social Network”?
Mr. Vanderhook: I don’t think it was so much that — that was just ironic. He’s really passionate about how can he create a better community.

Justin Timberlake apparently wasn’t satisfied with just playing a social media impresario in the movies, so now he’s becoming one in real life.
The pop star, who played Napster co-founder Sean Parker in “The Social Network,” a movie about Facebook, has joined Specific Media in buying its downtrodden rival, MySpace, from News Corp. in a deal that closed Wednesday.
Timberlake will have an office at MySpace’s Beverly Hills headquarters and a staff of about a half dozen people working for him “around the clock” developing his ideas for the site, said Specific Media CEO Tim Vanderhook.
The partners are set to unveil their plans for reviving the flagging site in a couple of months.
“When we met with Justin and we discussed what our strategy was, we hit a chord with him,” Vanderhook told The Associated Press. “One of his passions is he really enjoys helping other artists and creating a community for people to really express themselves. I think we were blown away that we were able to get someone like Justin to be so excited about what we were doing.”
