INSIDE THE WORLD OF JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
ENTERTAINMENT
WEEKLY
GETS SERIOUS AND SILLY WITH THE COVER BOY
NEW
YORK –
Justin
Timberlake is a man on the rise, and the whole world knows it.
The former Mouseketeer's success is remarkable: with his sophomore
album FutureSex/Lovesounds,
the "D--- in a Box" spoof R&B video on
SNL,
and four film projects in the works, the 26-year-old is doing more
than just "bringing sexy back."
Timberlake's
rise began with music, and with last year's
FutureSex/Lovesounds
the artist proved that he could step away from his widely known
pop-star/boy-band persona and create a whole new sound.
Timberlake's record label, Jive Records, admits they thought the
record was a risk.
"It was an unusual record," defends president
and CEO of Jive Records, Barry Weiss.
"It didn't sound like Justin
vocally. It didn't have his distinctive, falsetto-style vocals.
It was a bit of a risk for all of us. But it was a risk that
clearly paid off."
And that is an understatement. The result was massive success:
two No. 1 singles so far; the introduction of the phrase "bringing
sexy back" to the idiom; four Grammy nominations, including a
coveted Album of the Year nod; and the fifth-best-selling album of
last year, shifting 2.4 million copies.
When
his first album,
Justified,
debuted, it sold over 3 million copies but lacked the critical
acclaim that the artist desired.
"I was like, Yes, now I get to be
like an Al Green!" says the singer of his solo
debut. "Then the
reviews came out: 'Pop album,' 'Pop album,' 'Pop album.’… At some
point you have to realize you can't keep beating people over the
head: I sing R&B, I sing R&B! Then you just become weird."
Once he realized that he didn't have to be pigeonholed to one
genre, Timberlake had an ephiphany: some things he could control,
and some things he couldn't.
“If I'm a pop artist, then I
don't just have to do R&B. That's why this [new] album sounds the
way it does."
While
critics loved the album, many wondered who this young punk thought
he was to be "bringing sexy back."
"Well, who the f--- is
anyone?"
Timberlake
asks. "The thing that
I love about it is, at this point, people don't project it onto
me. They make it a part of themselves. People don't come up to
me and say, 'Hey, man, you're bringing sexy back.' They go,
I'm
bringing sexy back. But, yeah, obviously that's being pushed by
the media -- no offense. 'F---ing pretentious kid makes a
statement.' They still love to call me a kid."
In
addition to his music, Timberlake has been making the rounds in
both TV and film. In December, Timberlake and
SNL
writer-performer Andy Samberg created a pop culture moment with
their "D--- in a Box" music video in which the two men croon about
their gift-wrapped manhoods.
"I remember Andy on set saying,
'No, we need bigger boxes.' Actually, we had trouble shooting
it; there were so many takes where we cracked up. I knew it
would be well-received on the show, but I never expected it to be
this phenomenon. I kept saying to Andy, 'This is going to be
bigger than 'Lazy Sunday.' He was like, 'Well, don't jinx it,'"
remembers Timberlake.
And
the joke exceeded expectations after it became an Internet
sensation. "He was
born to do
SNL,"
Samberg says.
"He's got charm and
acting ability, but he also has comic timing. And then, when you
start throwing singing into the mix, it's, like, Oh, man, you can
make the dumbest joke sound great! And he has no problem looking
like an ass. None whatsoever...That dude is ready to mess
around."
Timberlake
has also been working on his acting skills -- and choosing
independent film projects as his foundation.
Alpha Dog
recently opened with positive reviews of Timberlake's performance,
and Black Snake
Moan
just debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. He is also vying for
a part in
Southland Tales,
a new project from the director of
Donnie Darko.
None of these movies, however, are likely to dominate the
multiplexes of the heartland.
"That's comfortable for me,"
he says. "There's
enough pressure on me to succeed at the
music
box office. I'd just rather get better at this. It's a work of
love.
I'm really into it and I want to do so much more."
His
biggest box office film of 2007 will be
Shrek the Third,
in which he stars alongside his ex-girlfriend
Cameron Diaz.
But don't think Diaz helped Timberlake land the role; he was
personally selected by Jeffrey Katzenberg after the Dreamworks
co-founder saw him host
SNL
for the first time in October 2003.
"He said he saw me on
SNL
and was like, 'That guy is funny,'"
recalls
Timberlake. "'He has
to play Artie.' I didn't bring it up with Cameron for a while.
It felt weird. Like, 'Hey, guess what...?'"
And that is pretty much all the singer will say about his ex, as
the Southern gent has an aversion to kissing-and-telling. The
high-profile breakup with Diaz has forced Timberlake to develop a
strategy for dealing with tabloid coverage of his life: Avoid it
all. "You sort of
know it exists because, the more promotion you do, the more you
hear about it," he says.
"But if I wasn't doing all this
promotion I wouldn't even know about it. I'd be surfing or
snowboarding or playing golf. That's how I keep my sanity. You
cannot do this without a sense of humor. Otherwise you get caught
pleasuring yourself in a bathroom stall."

LOS ANGELES – He's an actor, Grammy-winning singer and
two-time Best Burp Award-winner. Now Justin Timberlake can add another
title to his resume: awards-show host.
Timberlake has been tapped to host Nickelodeon's 20th

Los Angeles.
"I'm revving up to have an even bigger blast than
usual" at the ceremony, said Timberlake, 27, who is nominated for best
male singer along with Chris Brown, Jesse McCartney and Sean Paul.
``While honouring kids' opinions, it taps into the kid in all of us.''
Timberlake previously won three Kids' Choice Awards,
including favorite musical group ('N Sync) in 1999 and best burp in 2003
and 2006.
The best movie nominees are
Big Momma's House 2, Click, Night at the Museum, Pirates of the
Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Best male movie star nominees are Jack Black,
Johnny Depp, Adam Sandler and Will Smith. Female movie star nominees are
Halle Berry, Dakota Fanning, Keira Knightley, Sarah Jessica Parker.
Cars, Happy Feet, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Over the

show nominees are American Idol, Drake & Josh,
Fear Factor, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
The Kids' Choice Awards honor favourites in film,
TV, music, sports, video games and books. Kids can vote online beginning
March 5.
Justin
Was High On Punk'D
Pop star Justin Timberlake was high on marijuana when he
made an emotional appearance on Ashton Kutcher's prank show Punk'd in
2003.
The My Love singer was tricked into believing his possessions were being
taken by the tax authorities and appeared to be on the verge of
tears. The 26-year-old star has previously admitted that while recording
his solo album Justified, he regularly smoked marijuana.
When asked about his bewildered appearance on Punk'd he explains, "I'll
give you a little hint on that Punk'd thing. That was back in my
first-album creative days.
"That's why I looked the way I did, if that makes any sense to you."When
asked by Entertainment Weekly magazine if he was high during the prank
he laughingly replies, "Incredibly. Yeah, that was a trippy experience.
That was why I was completely glassy-eyed."As a matter of fact, I was
like, okay, I got to stop doing this. I don't do that anymore!"

MY MSG REVIEW / PICTURE
Hey guys , I am back from new york. It was a really
cold wait but worth it. me and my girls were confident in where we
wanted to stand and we ran to our target. We drove the staff insane ,
but hey it was all worth it in the end.

View photo
so yea after all my plans to sneak a
Camera in , it blew up in my face. I did everything in my power to get
my shit in the place , meanwhile where we were standing , the guards
were. The really sexy secuirty guard next to me was like " hide that
when the big guy is around , I dont care but he does " , so I only got
one picture from the entire show ,which i had to take with my phone and
justin graciously posed for me for. He saw I was trying to aim right
for him so he stopped.
Not only was the show absolutely amazing
but there were some awesome people there. the donald actually sat in the
audience. Thats when you know your the shit.
A lot of the fans weren't all that happy
about Pink opening up , but she put on one hell of a show. Her voice is
so powerful and exciting she just made the whole time worth while.
My one and only complaint about the show
was those curtains that surrounded him everytime he did a slow song. The
place I was standing was in my opinion the best spot on the floor. I saw
him from every angle and he really did spend most of his time on that
side it was great.
Erin , Shannon , Ryan , DB , DB's
sister ( sorry didn't get your name ) you guys rock and WE MADE IT! ( I
wonder if any homeless people took the blanket LOL )
AS FOR BRITNEY....
Ok I have received this question alot so I will answer
it publically rather than answering it 800 times.
When Donal trump sat down , the whole place went crazy
, the spotlights went on it and it became known. same as every other
celebrity including Diddy that was spotted. If Britney Spears was in the
audience last night , the world would have known and there would be
pictures. and most of all... I WOULD HAVE KNOWN. so I highly doubt that
Britney was there.

AT THE GARDEN A NEW , RACY , JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

By SIA MICHEL
Published: February 8, 2007
After a few songs at Madison Square Garden
on Wednesday night,
Justin Timberlake
needed a break. Like a man who’d just spent a hard day hip-thrusting
at the office, he shrugged off his white suit jacket. Loosened his
tie. Rolled up his sleeves. Then he kicked back with a relaxing
cocktail. He hadn’t played the Garden since 2000, with ‘N Sync, and
certainly that deserved a toast. As the
tequila went down, his face screwed up into a grimace. “I felt like
such a man before I took that shot,” he said. “Kids, don’t try that at
home.”
The Old Justin, an earnest, cred-deprived crooner
with a boy-band past, is still coming to terms with the New Justin, a
racy pop superstar who can mock Prince and get away with it. Last
year, his addictively catchy album, “FutureSex/ LoveSounds” sold about
2.5 million copies and was showered with critical acclaim . He had two
monster hits, the R&B ballad “My Love” and the buzzing dance track “SexyBack,”
which is responsible for one of 2006’s biggest catchphrases: “I’m
bringing sexy back.”
In December, he even won the respect of teenage
dudes, thanks to a naughty R&B spoof with Andy Samberg on “Saturday
Night Live.” Given that it involves gift-boxes and the male anatomy,
its title is unprintable. Given that it involves gift-boxes and the
male anatomy, it is a massive hit on YouTube (13.6 million views and
counting).
But 2007 is already even better for Mr. Timberlake.
He enjoyed good reviews for “Alpha Dog,” which appears to be a movie
about his bare torso. He is up for four Grammys next week, including
the coveted “Album of the Year” prize. And since his reported split
from
Cameron Diaz,
he is Hollywood’s new A-list bachelor prize. If recent celebrity rag
covers are to be believed, buxom thespians are clawing each other for
his affections. Even
Donald Trump
paid his respects at the sold-out Garden, offering a presidential wave
for the camera phones.
With his slight frame and baby-face, Mr. Timberlake
is not an obvious candidate for pin-up status. Essentially a
well-mannered southern-boy-next-door, he doesn’t embody much mystery
or menace. If someone pushed him too far, he would probably just smash
a disco ball. But since his last tour, for 2003’s multi-platinum
“Justified,” he has learned how to project sex symbol edge.
During an ambitious, well-oiled spectacle of nearly
three hours, this New Justin cursed, gyrated and mimicked bedroom acts
with his lingerie-clad dancers (though he avoided any “wardrobe
malfunctions”). He filmed himself with a hand-held camera as his band
jammed to “What Goes Around,” making demonic “Blair Witch
Project”-style faces. Then he raised his middle finger.
But the Old Justin swooped in regularly to reassure
the tweens. During “Summer Love” he cooed that “I can’t wait to fall
in love with you.” During “My Love” he asked, “Would you date me on
the regular?” During “Cry Me a River,” a break-up ballad from 2003, he
moaned, “Why did you leave me all alone?” No wonder the female screams
were so bloodcurdling: He’s a rock star who can commit.
The show started off riveting. There was a round
stage in the middle of the floor, surrounded by a curtain that often
doubled as a video screen. (As Mr. Timberlake sang “Losing My Way,”
about a crack addict named “Bob,” a ghostly gospel choir appeared on
the scrim.) Band members flanked both sides of a giant riser where Mr.
Timberlake and his back-up posse performed elaborate line-dances. Mr.
Timberlake is remarkably fluid; at one point, he jerked back-and-forth
as if he were a slab of vinyl being scratched by a DJ. Timbaland, the
brilliant producer behind “Future/Sex,” suddenly appeared to rap along
to a kinetic version of “Chop Me Up.” Then he took over as Mr.
Timberlake disappeared for an inexplicably long, energy-sapping break.
As “scary” imagery bombarded the video scrim
(monsters, Venetian masks, Nelly Furtado), Timbaland DJ’d snippets of
classics like Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and
Jay-Z’s “Big
Pimpin’.” But he never struck a danceable groove. Crowd members sat
down or wandered about until an R&B version of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since
You Been Gone” inspired an arena sing-along. Timbaland closed his set
with the video for “Give It to Me,” the new single from his upcoming
album. And — synergy! — guess who guest stars?
Mr. Timberlake, now sporting black pants and vest,
returned with the upbeat “Rock Your Body” and some liquid breakdancing
moves. Just as things picked up steam, he immediately shifted into an
overlong ballad sequence, sitting at the keyboard for a “couple of
songs that mean something very special to me.” (That included “Easy”
by the Commodores.) But it’s not like anyone was going to leave. For
one thing, he was required to bring “Sexy Back.” Plus: The internet
had been buzzing that Andy Samberg was a surprise guest.
And sure enough, an MC appeared to salute the
“biggest video on YouTube.” Mr. Timberlake and Mr. Samberg ran on
stage dressed as tacky boy-band lotharios, with Christmas presents
strapped to their groins. “Number one, cut a hole in a box,” they
sang. (Let’s leave instructions two and three up to the imagination.)
The crowd roared its approval and Mr. Timberlake couldn’t stop
laughing. But Old Justin was not about to send the ladies home like
this.
Mr. Timberlake reappeared in a t-shirt for one last
ballad, proclaiming himself a simple guy from Tennessee. “There’s a
one in a billion chance that something like this happens,” he said,
confident enough to know he got what he deserves.

UGH first let me start by saying Justin was robbed of
the album of the year award. Those hick bitches didnt deserve it. The
only reason they won it was because that song pissed off the president.
Future sex love sounds popped out 2 number one singles , stayed in the
top ten for over 3 months and sold over 2 million copies worldwide since
it's release.
The fact that the Dixie chicks won that comes to show
that the grammy awards go to the people who attract the music executives
, not the fans who buy and listen to the music.

With that said , congradulations to
Justin for the two awards he did receive tonight and for two well done

also to Robyn , the winner of the contest. She sang her heart out and

Justin
Timberlake to Brits: 'Stop Drinking!'
Justin
Timberlake was named best international male solo artist at the Brit
awards (the UK's version of the Grammys) on Wednesday, and used the
opportunity to jokingly warn the audience about the perils of drinking.
"Thank you very much for this," Timberlake, 26, said via video link.
"I'm very flattered. I'm actually on tour so I couldn't be there.
Everyone have a great night. Stop drinking! You know who you are. I'm
speaking to you. You are going to get sloppy." Then, referring to a
British tabloid, he joked, "OK! magazine is going to say
something bad about you."
Since he wasn't on hand to receive his engraved statuette, he continued:
"I accept this mock award right now. And if someone doesn't send me my
real Brit in the mail, there will be hell to pay!"
Las Vegas band The Killers, on the other hand, were at the
ceremony at Earls Court in west London, and had no regrets about
spending Valentine's Day far away from home.
"I didn't have to come up with any Valentine's apologies to spend my
evening here," frontman Brandon Flowers, 25, told PEOPLE backstage after
winning best international album for Sam's Town.
Asked how he would celebrate, he said: "Hopefully return to the stage in
a few minutes and win another award." And he did: Moments later, The
Killers carried off a trophy for best international group.
Nelly Furtado scored the best international female award, making it a
clean sweep for North America in all international categories. "God I'm
excited, I'm thrilled," Furtado told the crowd of 11,000. "I can't wait
to put him on my mantle – or her – I can't tell. But I've always wanted
one of these."

Justin
& Cameron's Late-Night Reunion

Exes
Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz reunited Friday night at the Whiskey
Bar in the Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood.
A patron tells PEOPLE that Timberlake had joined director Martin
Scorsese and about eight other people at a table inside the hotel's
exclusive bar. Timberlake, in a striped coat, chatted briefly with
Scorsese (who directed Diaz in Gangs of New York) and others at
the table.
Then, at about 1 a.m., Diaz arrived. "Cameron never joined their table,"
says the observer. "She just showed up and Justin got up and started
talking to her. They were being very discreet.
"They weren't kissing or holding hands or anything, but they were being
very friendly," the observer adds.
The pair, who broke up last month after nearly four years together, then
walked out the front door together a half-hour later. Says the onlooker:
"When I first saw this girl, I thought, 'That's not Scarlett Johansson
or Jessica Biel.' Then it hit me – it was Cameron! She was low-key, her
hair was dark and pulled back."

iTunes Store (http://www.itunes.com/),
continues to shatter records and set new standards. Always on the cusp
of new and inventive ways to entertain the world, Justin Timberlake and
Jive Records chose iTunes to premiere the video "What Goes Around ...
Comes Around" on Friday, February 9th. During the first four days on
iTunes, fans purchased and downloaded the video "What Goes Around ...
Comes Around" to the tune of over 50,000 downloads, and sales still
continue at a record breaking pace.
The full length 9:20 Directors Cut video, which
features Scarlett Johannson and Shawn Hatosy, was helmed by one of the
industry's most prolific directors, Sam Bayer, who has worked with
Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, David Bowie, Aerosmith and on Green Day's
"Boulevard of Broken Dreams." The video treatment was written by Nick
Cassavetes who has directed several films including John Q, The
Notebook, and Alpha Dog.
Justin's success in the digital realm has been nothing
short of phenomenal. "SexyBack," the first single off of FutureSex/LoveSounds,
sold over 252,000 in its first week of release in August 2006, one of
the biggest sales weeks ever for a single track at iTunes. FutureSex/LoveSounds
then set a record for the biggest pre-order in iTunes history, a mark
previously held by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album went on to break
the all time record for one week sales of a digital album with sales of
66,698, according to SoundScan. The previous record was held by Coldplay.
Recently Justin Timberlake took home two GRAMMY
awards, one for "Best Dance Recording" for "Sexyback" featuring
Timbaland, and one for "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration" for "My Love"
featuring T.I. Justin also just won "Best International Male" at the
2007 Brit Awards and has been nominated for International Album of the
year at the 2007 JUNO awards. Additionally the non-stop musician and
showman continues on his worldwide FutureSex/LoveShow tour and is
knocking out audiences and critics alike and to top it all off just
announced that he will be hosting the Kids Choice Awards on March 31st.
The 4 million plus worldwide selling album, FutureSex/LoveSounds
co-written and co-produced by Justin Timberlake, hit #1 on the Billboard
charts and broke all digital album sales records. The smash single "SexyBack"
featuring Timbaland, along with the 2nd single "My Love" featuring T.I.
and the current release "What Goes Around ... Comes Around" brings
Justin to a record breaking level. According to R&R magazine, since the
CHR/Top 40 chart began in 1992, Justin Timberlake sets the record for a
lead male artist as his latest single becomes his seventh consecutive
top 10 smash. Additional producers on the album include JAWBreakers,
Timbaland and Rick Rubin.
