LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Justin Timberlake gave up his burping title, but took home a trophy as favorite male singer Saturday night in a raucous, slime-drenched 20th Annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

Other winners included Adam Sandler as favorite male movie star, Dakota Fanning as favorite female movie star and Ben Stiller as winner of the night's top honor, the Wannabe Award, for the celebrity kids most want to be like.

"I can't believe this, oh my goodness," said Fanning, who giggled her way through her acceptance speech. "I want to thank all of you out there, and at home, who voted for me. "I consider all of you my friends!"

The Kids' Choice Awards are Hollywood's messiest, most raucous celebration honoring kid viewers' personal picks for best movies, music and TV shows. Timberlake, this year's host, delivered on a pre-show promise to make this year's version the slimiest ever.

The show's hallmark is the drenching of a celebrity in green slime, but this year hundreds of celebrities and audience members got the treatment.

The show began with Timberlake descending from the ceiling on a large orange Nickelodeon blimp, and breaking into a Broadway show tune in which he taunted the audience, saying he was too famous to be slimed.

 

"You'll never get a drop of slime on old J.T.," he sang.

By the end of the song, of course, he had been drenched in the green goo. So had actors Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.

Timberlake, the only person to win the show's celebrity burp-off twice, defended his title this year against all 12,000 people in the audience at Pauley Pavilion, who burped simultaneously in a mass belch that sounded like it was augmented by special-effects. He was roundly defeated.

In a speech mocking awards speeches, Sandler put on his "Happy Gilmore" voice as he thanked the inventor of the potato chip bag and the pillow, and everyone in the audience "for not making fun of me for talking like this every speech I do."

The show closed with Vince Vaughn and Timberlake being soaked in slime again. When the audience roared its approval, they pulled out firehoses and sprayed hundreds of people in the audience that included such celebrities as Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, Queen Latifah and numerous others.

The award presentations have always been an afterthought on the light-hearted show, which also included musical performances by Gwen Stefani and Maroon 5.

Other award winners were Black Eyed Peas for favorite musical group, American Idol for favorite TV show and Drake Bell for favorite TV actor. Bell also won that award last year.

Kids vote online to select the winners in each category. Approximately 25 million votes were cast last year, according to Nickelodeon

NEW YORK (AP) — Justin Timberlake blames celebrity magazines for turning his personal life into juicy gossip fodder.

"I despise what they do," the 26-year-old singer tells Details magazine in an interview in its April issue. "They create soap operas out of people's lives. ... It's a spin game, and I choose not to take part in it."

That includes not dishing any dirt about former girlfriends Britney Spears and Cameron Diaz.

"I would never say anything bad about anyone. I love a lot of those people," says Timberlake, whose latest album is "FutureSex/LoveSounds."

Diaz and Timberlake, who had dated since 2003, confirmed their split in January. Timberlake's relationship with Spears ended in 2002. They were a high-profile couple for three years.

Timberlake, a former member of boy band 'N Sync, released his debut solo album, "Justified," in 2002. The album won a Grammy Award.

"I tried so hard to be an R&B artist and it was the pop album of the year. ... That's the last thing I wanted," Timberlake says. "But I was like, `So everyone considers me a pop artist? ... I'm going to do whatever I want to do."'

Justin Timberlake, who sang the popular "I'm Lovin' It" hook for a McDonald's ad campaign, is biting the hand that fed him.

In an interview that appears in the May issue of British GQ, Timberlake starts talking about awards shows, and then veers to the topic of McDonald's. "I view the Grammys the same way I as I see my deal with McDonald's," JT said. "I regret the McDonald's deal." Mac attack!

Timberlake continued, talking about how he regretted performing at the Grammys, saying, "It's kind of interesting. Just like the McDonald's deal, whose market share went up 25 percent when I walked into those offices and changed their image. When I did the Grammys, the viewing figures went up by 25 percent. Funny, isn't it?" Wow, someone's a little full of himself.

McDonald's signed Timberlake as its spokesman in 2003 and sponsored the European leg of his tour that year.

Calls to reps for McDonald's and Timberlake were not immediately returned.

Justin Timberlake To Write Songs For Madonna.... Pop superstar Justin Timberlake is writing songs for Madonna's new album.

The Queen of Pop's new record is expected to be released later this year (Nov07), and she has reigned in Timberlake to write a few tracks.

The Cry Me A River hitmaker says, "I have been working on some new music. But it's not for myself - I'm writing for other people. I'm working on some stuff for Madonna."

Timberlake was spotted heading into a West London studio with Madonna yesterday (10Apr07) to work on the forthcoming album, reports British newspaper The Sun.

In other news Justin Timberlake religiously listens to music by Coldplay before he performs on tour, claiming it enhances his stage performance.

The Sexyback singer says he plays the band's song Clocks and also does mild exercise before every gig.

He says, "It turned into a superstition because, after I heard that song, I felt like it would be a good show."

The couple arrived at a friend's birthday party holding hands on April 6.

Shortly after Justin split from Cameron Diaz, he and Jessica were seen flirting at Prince's post-Oscars party and also enjoyed a skiing holiday - but denied they were dating.

Justin Timberlake and Madonna were spotted emerging from a London studio looking a little worn out after their first day recording together.

The pop superstars are collaborating on the Queen of Pop’s new album which is believed to have a hiphop feel.

JT, who is in the UK preparing for for his current world tour, revealed to The Sun: “I’ve been working on new music but it’s not for myself. I’m working on some stuff for Madonna.”

Madge, meanwhile, caused havoc outside the studio last night as she demanded her car be brought to the back door and parked on the pavement so nobody would see her escape.

Justin Timberlake was so concerned about Britney Spears, who entered rehab in February, that he reached out to her, he has revealed.

But Spears, who checked out of Malibu's Promises treatment center in March after nearly a month, is on the right track, Timberlake said.

"She's a great woman. I'm rooting for her," he said. "[It] seems like she's getting everything under control now."

Timberlake, who in January split with Cameron Diaz (his costar in Shrek, who also attended the press day), said being single has its ups and downs.

"The advantages are that you don't get in as many arguments, and the disadvantage is that you're talking to yourself," he said.

But he isn't exactly lonely. Timberlake spent time with Jessica Biel, 25, at a barbecue party at his L.A. house last week, PEOPLE reports in its new issue.

Things between the pair got "hot and heavy," says a source in the singer's circle.

This isn't the first time Timberlake and Biel have been spotted together: In January they went snowboarding with a group of friends in Park City, Utah, and hung out backstage at one of Timberlake's concerts in San Diego.

And at Prince's Golden Globes party that month, Timberlake and Diaz had a spat after Diaz saw Timberlake chatting with Biel.

As for Biel, when it comes to Timberlake, a source tells PEOPLE the actress is "crazy about him."

POP SUPERSTAR Justin Timberlake enjoyed a round of golf at Carnoustie yesterday with his family.

Timberlake signed autographs and posed for pictures with local fans who turned up at the Championship course when word spread of his presence.

Youngsters Austin Bruce, Nicole Bruce and Sandi Drummond were lucky enough to grab a chat with Timberlake, who was happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures after teeing off at 2pm.

But when a gang of girls armed with autograph pads ran on to the Championship course to see him while he played the back nine, his mood appeared to take a turn for the worse.

Word spread back that the intrusion had upset the American singer and he declined to speak to our reporter.

Earlier in the day, Timberlake thrilled local fans who turned up at the course to greet him.

Austin Bruce (12), Nicole Bruce (15) and Sandi Drummond (15) followed him around the opening three holes before asking for his autograph and if he would pose for a picture.

"I asked if I could have his autograph and get a picture with him," said Austin.

"He was happy to pose with us for a picture and speak to us.

"Justin's such a nice guy and a good golfer."

"My brother told us Justin was playing golf so we came down to see him," said Sandi.

"We're all big fans and I couldn't believe just how nice he was.

"He signed autographs, posed for a picture and chatted with us.

"Now we're just waiting for him to finish so we can see him again."

As word spread a group of around 20 youngsters turned up at the course to see him finish, while others walked on to the fairways to take pictures or greet the former N Sync singer.

Again, he signed for all the waiting fans, even playfully sparring with youngster James MacCallum (7), who joined the queue of adoring girls with his sister Katharine (11).

Timberlake is said to be "absolutely golf-obsessed" and plays off a handicap of six.

Ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz had to take up golf to spend more time with him.

Timberlake is a member of the Sherwood Country Club in Los Angeles and is believed to be staying at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel on a family holiday.

He was playing yesterday in a four-ball with a young woman and two men.

One golfer playing earlier was impressed with Timberlake's abilities.

He said, "I saw him playing out of the bunker at the seventh and he was very good.

"He's a good golfer but he did look a little scruffy!"

Timberlake's net worth is estimated in the hundreds of millions and he is now turning his successful run as a solo artist into a stab at screen stardom.

Pop singer Justin TImberlake has the biggest ego in Hollywood, according to a new poll that also shames Angelina Jolie and Sean "Diddy" Combs.

The list, established by Us Weekly, pokes fun at the stars for their incessant bragging and high self regard.

It says, "(Timberlake) has claimed that McDonald's shares climbed 25 percent when he walked into their offices and changed their image."

Jolie is apparently regarded as a "great leader" by those close to her, while Diddy has boasted about being "one of the greatest entrepreneurs and entertainers the world has ever encountered."

British stars like Kate Winslet and Hugh Laurie were meanwhile applauded for their modesty.

Pop heartthrob JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's fans are only allowed to "touch" their idol on his European tour, but a "grab" is out of the question.

The SEXYBACK singer is embarking on his FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS tour this week, kicking off in Belfast's Odyssey Arena, but fans of the former boyband member have been given strict fondling instructions.

Security teams have been briefed that no grabbing of the singer is allowed, according to sources in Belfast.

One told Bang Media: "They were quite specific about what was and what was not allowed. We've never known anything like it. It was hysterical."

However, two men decided to flaunt the strict security rules and jumped on stage with BRITNEY SPEARS's ex boyfriend in the Northern Ireland capital, allegedly "mocking him". An insider said: "Justin looked a bit perturbed. Far from concentrated on singing he was looking all around as the action unfolded."

Meanwhile, the singer's waxwork has gone down a storm with female fans at London's Madame Tussauds display. A spokesperson for the museum said that the life-size model of the 26-year-old, which stands near his ex Britney, was a hit with the public.
