Givenchy invite woman to Play too

Following the glossy launch of Play for men, which featured ice cool singing sensation, Justin Timberlake, Parfums Givenchy have created a feminine counterpart. Play for Her will be available on counters in August in two incarnations.

Amyris wood is a common note between the two versions of Play for Her and is described by the brand as “Mellow, warm and slightly musky”. Amyris wood originates in the Caribbean, where it is known locally as candle wood thanks to the long-burning properties of its essential oil.

Perfumers Emilie Coppermann and Lucas Sieuzac, together with in-house specialist Françoise Donche, teamed amyris wood with tiare flower, magnolia leaf and magnolia flower to create the heart of the scent. They teamed this with pink peppercorns, white peach, bergamot and sweet pea in the top and sandalwood and musks in the base. The resulting scent is “a sparkling floral, woody, fruity fragrance – carefree, bright and vibrant”.

By contrast Play for Her intense sees the amyris wood and tiare flower combined with orchid at the heart. This comes between top notes of pink peppercorns and orange flower and base notes of sandalwood, patchouli and tonka bean. This fragrance is described as “a warm, floral, woody, amber fragrance – sensual, voluptuous and encapsulating”.

The bottle for Her mirrors the for Him version in its modern MP3 player mimicry. The edp comes in a bright pink and the edp intense in a more dramatic indigo. Both are accented with diamante crystals at the edge. Serge Mansau is behind the design and has a history with the fragrance house, which has seen him create bottles for Organza and Ange ou Démon.

The ad campaign once again features Justin Timberlake, but this time he shares the limelight with Canadian fashion model and actress, Noot Sear. Pierre Morel directs the two on a Parisian Noir adventure that sees them running through Paris and up the Eiffel Tower, where Timberlake manipulates the city lights just for them through the power of Play. Tom Munro returned to shoot the black and white print campaign, following his earlier intimate shots of Play for Him.

Both Play for Her edp and edp intense will be available in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml flacons
