Justin Timberlake cast in ‘Bad Teacher’
Justin Timberlake has nabbed the coveted role of the male lead in “Bad Teacher,” the Cameron Diaz comedy Jake Kasdan is directing for Columbia.
Molly Shannon and Eric Stonestreet (“Modern Family”) are also joining the cast.
The script, by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, follows a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher who, after being dumped by her boyfriend, sets her sights on a colleague (Lucy Punch) who is dating a substitute teacher, who also is the scion of a watch fortune.
Jason Segel was cast in the supporting role of a gym teacher, with John Michael Higgins slotted as the principal, but the studio has spent the better part of the new year looking though class photos trying to find its leading man.
John Krasinski, Joel McHale, Timothy Olyphant, Guy Pearce, Adam Scott and relative newcomer Cheyenne Jackson were in the mix for table reads and other tests.
Jimmy Miller is producing the feature, which starts filming this month in Los Angeles.
Timberlake seems to be making a concerted push into larger movie roles. After spending time in supporting parts in such movies as “Alpha Dog” and “The Love Guru,” this new role comes on the heels of him wrapping up a co-starring role in Columbia’s “The Social Network.”
Timberlake is repped by WME and Marc Entertainment.

The bad news: Justin Timberlake keeps trying to act. And people keep hiring him. WTF?
The good news: this role puts him opposite ex girlfriend Cameron Diaz in a movie called Bad Teacher. And it’s not a supporting part. JT is the male lead. No doubt producers are well aware of the drawing power that’ll come from the intrigue of pairing the former lovers on screen. Much to Jessica Biel’s chagrin. Today is her birthday. Happy Birthday Shelfy! Now she’ll be turning down jobs so she can park her Shelf Ass on that set. And make sure the paps are around too.
Having said that, Shelfy really doesn’t have to worry. At least not right now. I’m told exclusively that Cammie and ARod were spotted touching each other throughout dinner last Thursday at a luxury resort in California. It’s obviously still on between them. Gross. SO gross. Not quite sure why she hasn’t tired of that vain ass douche.

I’ll continue to support Justin and see his movies the day they come out however I think he needs to stick with his music. Maybe if he could get a good comedy role that would work but attempting to be serious is not flattering for him. His part in The Love Guru was funny but the movie was so bad that it’s quick to forget his character. If acting makes him happy then honestly who cares what we all think. It’s his life and he needs to be happy with what he does. He’s pretty much perfected the music scene and very use to hearing high praise for his work so maybe to him taking on these roles are challenges and he’s striving to get better. Regardless for his reasonings I support him.
Now what I can say is that when filming starts IT’S ON with the media. They will make every twisted story they can about JT cheating with Diaz and how Biel is about to jump off a building over it. I do think it’s incredibly sad that celebrities have to go thru such non sense. Granted it’s a choice you make stepping into that industry but these days it’s so bad with the papparrazzi, magazines, tv shows. If they could prove Justin shit a full sized unchewed cheerio they’d be all over it and it’s quite frankly pathetic that anyone would pay money for such a ridiculous meaningless story. These people are grown ass adults and if the 3 parties are ok with this working arrangement then that’s what matters and the media should back the hell off and let them live their lives without making shit up. But this is a complete waste of time writing because as I said once filming begins bring on the front page cover stories and non stop BS everything from JT cheating on Biel to Biel cheating on JT with Diaz.

Eric Stonestreet is going to be busy in his summer vacation from Modern Family. Eric along with Justin Timberlake and Molly Shannon have been added to the cast of Jake Kasdan’s “Bad Teacher,” Sony Pictures announced Tuesday.
The film stars Cameron Diaz as a foul-mouthed junior-high teacher trying to woo a colleague, played by Jason Segel.
