This week we’re bringing you from-the-gut interviews with some of menswear’s biggest names at New York Fashion Week. No canned responses; no cribbing from press releases. Just us shooting the shit with some of our favorite shot-callers in fashion. Today we have William Rast founders—and friends since childhood—Trace Ayala and Justin Timberlake.
Justin, you recently went on a road trip?
JT: Yeah, right after Christmas I went from Los Angeles to Montana and was just in awe of everything in between: deserts, pine forests, snow-capped mountain peaks. That idea of discovery actually really inspired us—we just tried to imagine, “What if the William Rast guy took a trip across America?”
TA:: Justin himself actually took a bunch of photographs—I know he doesn’t like to say this himself—that were really inspiring.
Are you a photographer? What camera do you use?
JT: My cousin is actually a really amazing photographer so we’ll trade tips on photography, and I worked with Jeff Bridges about two years ago, and he really got me into the Widelux.
What can you tell me about working with [William Rast and J. Lindeberg designer] Johan Lindeberg?
TA: [laughs] It’s fun, that’s for sure. He’s an amazingly creative guy. He knows what he wants and exactly how to do it—there’s nothing indecisive.
I think you imagine Swedish designers to be very buttoned up and severe, but that guy just seems like he doesn’t give a shit.
JT: We definitely identify with him in that way. It’s nice to know that you have someone who doesn’t give a shit about the wrong things. It’s not that he doesn’t care—he just doesn’t sweat the B.S.
Tell me about designing womenswear. Is it hard to get a handle on?
TA: I think it’s easier. I know what I like on a woman. You don’t have to worry about, “Is this something I would wear?”
JT: Well, what’s on trend for women’s so specific every season. You can take from the past and build on it, or you can be ironic, or romantic, or what have you. But with men, it’s never anything really brand-new, but things that have stood the test of time. You want to be as creative as possible, but when you see one of your great ideas realized, it’s like, “Oh that’s not really as great as I thought it was.” With men, you can’t stray as far from certain conventions.
Okay, last question: What do you miss most about Memphis?
[simultaneously]
TA: Barbecue.
JT: Food.

I didn’t see the show. I only saw a few pictures and I don’t like it that much. Some jackets or other pieces of clothes look ok but don’t really love it. At least it’s not like the Village People look like I thought and said earlier. Lol

Jessica Biel actually looked good for this year for the William Rast event. She actually looked pretty for a change. Those lips needs to go. My god how much shit can be injected one pair of lips. I think Jessica might be in for record for the lip injections whoa. Other than that compared to last year. Hell, last year she looked like total shit. This year, was definitely an improvement for her.
I just want to ask a lot you girls honestly must be jealous. She has managed to keep Justin and he seems to enjoy the clinging. She rubbing his beard and kissing him and everything while Justin is promoting his clothing line. I don’t know how she does it. But, it must be a real boost to Justin’s ego. I hope she clings hard. Very hard. See how that works out for their relationship. Hope it works real well.

I dont agree with Ted Jessica only looked ok yesterday because she was dressed and had her makeup done by professionals if you take all that she is still the same plain jane and her body is not impressive anymore. I do agree about one thing they were suddently “back together strong” when she was about to start to promote her movie and Justin his fashion show convinient isnt it? But i dont think thats the reason Justin is staying his lack of balls to end it 4 good is the real reason.

They both had events like the Hasty Pudding, her movie and promo, and the fashion show. If they didn’t appear to be together, then rumors would start again about a breakup or trouble. I think once they get back to LA and they don’t have as much work then we will go back to seeing less of them together again like it has been before these events.

Justin Timberlake’s Mom: Jessica Biel Is ‘One of Us’
It was a family affair at Justin Timberlake’s William Rast fashion show on Wednesday: The singer’s parents Lynn and Paul Harless sat in the front row next to his girlfriend Jessica Biel, whom Lynn calls “one of us.”
“She’s amazing. She’s so down-to-earth and her family is great,” says Lynn, adding that her son and Biel click because “they’re both very funny and creative.”
Not to mention thoughtful. “They’re always trying to out ‘special’ each other,” says Lynn. “They’re pretty openly affectionate.”
Timberlake’s longtime friend and Tennman Records artist Matt Morris and Vogue editor Anna Wintour also watched from the front row as models showcased the fall 2010 collection, which Timberlake and best friend Trace Ayala created to convey a “nomadic discoverer,” says Timberlake, 29. “The landscape of the Midwest was really the prominent theme that we kept coming back to,” he also said. “It was really inspiring.”
During the show, which was sponsored by Sony, Biel, 27, often leaned over to whisper to a friend in the seat next to her about the different looks. Models donned military-inspired coats and foxtail-covered shoes. “Tonight is my first time seeing the whole collection,” Biel told PEOPLE.
No surprise considering the actress’s active schedule. Along with promoting her new film Valentine’s Day, she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro last month to raise awareness and funds for the global water crisis.
Mom Wants Grandchildren
“She was at my house around Christmas and there was this crazy noise coming from my gym,” says Lynn. No, it wasn’t Santa.
“To get ready for the climb, [Jessica] had the treadmill to the highest level and was running with a 40-lb. backpack,” says Lynn, adding with a laugh: “I want to be her when I grow up.”
So, is Biel “The One” for her son? “You should ask him. I’ve thought that before,” Lynn says with her fingers crossed. “They’re young. They have plenty of time.”
Just don’t wait too long, Justin. Mom is eager for tiny Timberlakes.
“I’ve had friends who have grandchildren and I’ve tried to express to him that I’m losing that race!” she says. “But I have grandpuppies. Justin has two boxers and she has a pitbull who’s now part of the family. I said I’ll leave you alone about the grandkids as long as you leave the puppies with me.”

I think what Lynn said was very nice though. I can’t be in denial about Lynn liking Biel, but I’m sure Biel is not a horrible person around Lynn or anything.
It looks like they are back on strong, again, I can’t deny it. And we had no confirmed sightings of Biel or Justin around Christmas so if Lynn is quoted saying Biel was there in Memphis then I think we need to believe it.
It is kind of fucked up that BIEL is the MAIN focus of the PEOPLE article about Justin’s WR show.

I still don’t think they are back on strong. It’s just with these events, she is up his ass again and he’s letting her for now. When a couple of weeks ago, there was no mention of her at his bday party and we would have known if Jessica did something becuz her and her publicist wouldn’t let it go quietly. I don’t think it’s all PR, I think Justin does have his issues letting go and like I said above that he gets to have his cake and eat it too. But we’ll have to see how things go after these events when they are back in LA and don’t have much to do. We’ll probably go back to having no “candids” of them and no news of them, which it was how like late last year when they were having trouble. If it goes back to being like that, then I don’t think they are back on strong again.

Sophia, I think they are back on strong because Lynn is saying Biel was in Memphis for Christmas, and Justin went to CO. to see her folks then in January hired her brother to work for his 901 company.
Also look at Biel..she’s all happy and put SOME weight back on. It’s clear things are at least smooth right now.

Two things; I do agree that the media sort of made this all about her being there and its a shame. However I disagree on the second thing. I do think that part of the benefit of dating Justin Timberlake is all this attention, which she loves, but I also think the chick is head over heels for him and what being with him means for her. That’s why she clings, that’s why she puts up with all his demands and breaks. She’s in love with him as well as being in love with his fame.
I think that is what she (Biel) thinks (I mean that they are back on strong) – I`m sure Justin has a different point of view – I don`t think he takes this “relationship” serious otherwise he wouldn`t immediately hook up with other girls i.e. Rihanna or Kate Hudson (remember: Rihanna didn`t deny it) directly after “taking a break” with Biel – I`m sure Biel thinks everything is fine again – I´m sure, because she is soooooo naive LOL – Justin is a player and he won`t change for her! She can dress up, cling as hard as she likes, kiss him infront of many people but that doesn`t change the fact that she is definitely NOT the one for Justin! Hahahaha Absolutely laughable! And here I completely agree with the comment Christine made about a possible marriage

And by the way: Justin didn`t necessarily have a happy face at the show, when you look at some pictures (that is my opinion) This relationship-game is played on Justins terms – if he gets fed up with her (and I´m sure he will more sooner than later) he will dump her and nothing won`t change the decision! He is the one who decides – Biel-Horseface is just the one who constantly begs him not to leave her! Maybe like that: “Don`t leave me Justin because otherwise I will starve myself to death” or “don`t leave me or I will kill myself!” Maybe that is how she convinced him to take her ugly ass back at least for now – she has no self-confidence that is why!
And: I still don`t think that she is head over heals in love with him! I really don`t think so! She is in love with his fame and the attention she gets because of him!
