Justin Timberlake’s Mom Beats Him at Golf
Justin Timberlake has golfed with professionals, friends and fellow celebrities, but there is one loss on the links that he won’t soon forget – he was outdone by his mother!
“I have, on occasion, actually beaten him straight up,” Timberlake’s mother Lynn Harless told PEOPLE Thursday as she hosted the Wives Luncheon, an event she coordinated for the better halves of professional golfers as part of the week-long Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.
“He took my husband [Paul Harless] and me on a golf trip one time and they were surprised at the end when they added up the scores and I was one up on them,” Harless said. “I have bragging rights for life.”
The mom-and-son duo joined forces to plan the Thursday afternoon event for the spouses of 150 PGA players because “we realized that none of the other tournaments really do anything for the wives,” said Harless. Like them, “We live on the road. We live out of a suitcase. We’re all long distance. I understand what it’s like being a traveling support system like our family is.”
Timberlake echoed his mom’s respect for the women, telling the PGA Wives Association who gathered for lunch at Vegas’s Design Center inside the World Market Center, “We want to make this one of the biggest parts of the week.”
Timberlake is in the second year of a five-year deal he inked to host the golf tournament in Vegas. The tournament features a golf clinic for children, celebrity pro-am tournament, and is capped off by the JT and Friends Concert Saturday at Mandalay Bay.

I’m torn between the mommas boy thing. Sometimes it’s sweet but sometimes it too much. It’s nice that they are still sooo close after all these years in the business and she is a part of that business. Like Abby said in her #168 comment it’s a family business also with his cousin and his stepdad and Trace is like a brother to him. He evens includes his grandparents sometimes. It’s nice that he’s keeping it in the family and it’s a good family, not messed up like Lohan clan lol. But sometimes it’s too much. It can get ‘my mom this and my mom that’ in interviews sometimes lol. Like in the Rolling Stone interview from 2002 Justin said he tells his mom about things she doesn’t want to hear lol. I think the positive side of momma’s boy wins me over tho lol. It’s better that they are close with each other rather than bad.
