The Hollywood Reporter says that Warner Bros. is close to deciding which of three hot actors it will cast in the lead role of the “Green Lantern,” scheduled to open in December 2010.
The race has been narrowed to: Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake.
One of them will play Hal Jordan, the Air Force test pilot who joins the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns. His job: Defend part of the universe with a powerful ring that gives him super powers, such as flight and invisibility.
“Lantern,” based on one of DC Comics’ most popular characters, is expected to be a high-priced space epic, THR says, costing somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 to $200 million.
So who do you think should play the part?
Cooper is the star of the summer’s big hit, “The Hangover.”
Reynolds, who is familiar with comic-book themed movies with his work in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” is currently starring opposite Sandra Bullock in “The Proposal.”
Timberlake is working on his acting resume, with roles in the dramas “Alpha Dog” and “Black Snake Moan.”
Maybe it should be whoever can fit the power ring.

LOL @ that picture haha. I’m not really into comic book type movies. I don’t think this would be a good move for Justin if he decides to pursue it. But then again, he could also surprise people if it’s good. Who knows.
You’re right Lala he could surprise everybody but i really hope that he doesn’t do this. Like you, i’m not into comic book movies either.
I’m not even sure if he is a real contender, or if they’re just throwing his name out there for publicity purposes.
If he is going to go for a more commercial role, i’d rather something else and not this.

I think Justin has the potenial to be an outstanding actor. He needs the right project to skyrocket him in this field. I have always invisioned him playing a cool role in a sci-fi flick or high energy action flick.
Sam..I saw it too and I know US Weekly gets about 50% to 60% of their stories wrong, this sounds legit.

Although fans might prefer to see Justin Timberlake in the upcoming Green Lantern flick, he isn’t being considered for the role.
Despite a report in Hollywood Reporter that claimed the singer was in the running for the lead role in the DC Comics adaptation, he didn’t make it through preliminary screen tests, a source tells Usmagazine.com.
Instead, Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto are the three finalists for the part.
And the three actors being considered have something besides the potential part in common.
“It’s actually quite funny in the sense that all three of those men have been linked to Scarlett Johansson,” a source on the film tells Usmagazine.com. “Ryan is married to her, Bradley had an affair with her in He’s Just Not That Into You, and Jared had a fling with her.”
The source also tells Us the character of Hal Jordan — a role producers have been looking to fill for five months — will likely go to Reynolds.
“Ryan Reynolds is going to be cast,” the source says. “He’s as good as got the job. They are literally just waiting to sign contracts and get all the final details tied up, but the role is his.”
A spokesperson for Timberlake had no comment.
Green Lantern is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2011.
