is it really wrong for kids to pose sexy ?
{nl}With all the media attention focused on Miley Cyrus’s newly surfaced ” sexy ” photos , it made me think of all those pictures of Justin from when he was a kid. She is the same age that he was in the picture above.{nl}The magazines , blogs and papers all blame Britney for her bad image , and bad judgement towards how to express herself for the way younger performers are now portraying themselves , but the boys did it too. Members of the backstreet boys and nsync as well as other boybands were posing is sexy ways , wearing barely anything at young ages as well. Not knockin Miley , and i’m certainly not knockin Justin…. i’m just making a point , that ALL KIDS DO THIS. not Just those who follow Britney Spears.

There certainly is a double standard. I'm sure if a 15 year old boy took a shirtless picture of himself and posted it on his MySpace, there wouldn't be a media frenzy. I really don't understand what the big deal is. Those pictures of Miley in that magazine are not risque. It's as if she was wearing a backless halter dress, and someone snapped a picture of her. It's not like she's showing her breasts or private parts.
I completely agree with you, neonsneakuhs, there's always going to be a double standard for girls/women in the music industry and Hollywood. In addition, people put these teen stars on pedestals and expect them to inhumanly perfect. Thus, when some small incident occurs…it's completely blown out of proportion. Plus, magazines have to make a profit somehow…
well said @mjane As a mother, I have to say that that pic of Justin – if it were my son – would probably not bother me too much. I only have boys. And I totally agree about the double standard and the media blowing this stuff way out of proportion. BUT there are plenty of young stars out there showing way too much for their age, and it's a very slippery slope. So, it's hard to say.. Also, ten years ago (GOD I feel old saying this) when that picture of Justin was taken, things were REALLY different.. Times have changed and there are more and more sickos out there preying on kids. Even teens. Just my thoughts.. I do look at that pic of Justin and wonder.. He looks so young and so old all at the same time. For him, that was his life. The media flash and he lived in the spotlight (still does..) The average kid doesn't need that kind of pressure. Nor do they really need to look at pictures like this and feel compelled to "measure up.." I think the responsibility falls back onto the parents, where it belongs. There will always be magazine images that are inappropriate and too "sexy." But who ever thought that the media was the right place to look for our standards and morals anyhow??
I agree with everyone this has been blown out of proportion the media itself needs to move on.
