MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The family of pop singer Justin Timberlake bought the Big Creek golf course near Memphis, just before it was to be sold at auction.

The last-minute deal prevented the public course near Millington from going on the block Thursday.

A representative of the family said Big Creek will remain an upscale public golf course.

Justin Timberlake is reported to be an avid golfer who plays to a 6-handicap.

The PGA Tour announced this month that the four-time Grammy winner and actor would host the Tour’s stop in Las Vegas next year.

Course owner Lanier Hurdle said only that the selling price was more than the $750,000 minimum bid that had been set for auction.

The music industry is about one thing these days: finding the right career-maker. Timbaland and Justin Timberlake have ruled the concert circuit with one of the year’s top tours (the FutureSex/LoveSounds road show) and dominated the airwaves, furthering their own solo careers as well as resurrecting others (say thanks, Nelly Furtado). Now the pair have bestowed their combined genius on Duran Duran, with Timberlake cowriting two singles and Timbaland at the controls for three tracks on the comeback album, Red Carpet Massacre. Next up: Madonna’s return to glory. Ronson, meanwhile, has graduated from deejaying for celebutards to manning the board on Amy Winehouse’s breakthrough album, Back to Black, and on the debut of sassy pop tart Lily Allen. That beats spinning for Paris Hilton any day.

I am amazed. Most of the time when some rereleases an album , only the cover changes….. most of the pages have changed. Pop star Justin Timberlake thrilled a nearly hysterical Auckland crowd with a set full of raunchy hits. Reviewer Chris Schulz was there.
 

Red lights, laser beams, dry humping and strippers. You could be forgiven for thinking you’d wandered into an erotic nightclub instead a pop music show by a former boy band member.

But this is Justin Timberlake, and during the first of three concerts at Auckland’s Vector Arena, the chart-topping pop star known as ‘JT’ proved he’s good enough to do whatever he wants – including getting a lap dance in front of 12,000 people.

If that moment – during a raunchy version of Damn Girl as strippers strutted around the giant stage – came as a shock to some of the parents in the audience, the pre-show warm-up music must have been downright disturbing.

By playing Nine Inch Nails’ Closer – a dark tale of misogyny with lyrics that can’t be reprinted here – Timberlake sounded a warning right from the start: He’s here to bring sexy back in any way he sees fit.

And he succeeded, with a thrilling two-hour-plus show that soared as high as the hot air balloon ride over Auckland he was rumoured to have enjoyed with his girlfriend Jessica Biel earlier in the day.

He opened with FutureSex/LoveSounds, sashaying across the stage with his signature dance moves while introducing the crowd to his excellent band and a large team of back-up dancers.

The stage may have been crowded but the spotlight was only ever on Timberlake. At times – during his biggest hits My Love, Rock Your Body and Cry Me A River – the screams from the young, largely female crowd were nearly hysterical.

And they only got louder during a spectacular rendition of What Goes Around… as a giant wheel of lights descended on the stage, hovering over Timberlake in a scene resembling something out of War of the Worlds.

A 20-minute intermission gave the crowd time to catch their breath, and when Timberlake returned – yep, to more screams – he showed why he managed to shed those humble boy band beginnings so successfully.

We all know he can sing and dance, but did anyone know he was a multi-instrumentalist? We do now, as he played acoustic guitar on Like I Love You, piano on Senorita and keyboards on My Love. He even busted out a keytar during Sexy Ladies.

About the only thing Timberlake couldn’t do was rap Three 6 Mafia’s verse on Chop Me Up. But you just know he probably would have pulled it off if he tried.

He’d already steamed up Vector’s windows, but to hit his point home, Timberlake indulged in some dry humping during Summer Love, then ended with his signature tune SexyBack, complete with laser beams scanning the audience.

For the encore, he ventured out on to the stage for a final – probably unnecessary – ballad and to tell the crowd New Zealand was the “most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my life” with the “nicest people I’ve ever met”.

And he praised our fruit growing abilities, complimenting our “giant” strawberries.

Sexy, humble and funny? Pull that King of Pop crown down tight over your head, Justin. It’s going to be yours for a very long time.

Well, they may not have been as wholesome as you first thought, because Britney Spears has been hit by allegations she actually lost her virginity at the age of 14!!

The fallen pop princess rose to stardom proclaiming that she had never had sex and would wait until she married, but now US Weekly is claiming Spears first had sex with her childhood boyfriend Reg Jones. Her former lawyer Eric Ervin has already admitted to the magazine that her virgin image was a ‘PR blitz’, and says thats just the beginning of her “twisted” past.

An insider tells the magazine that Jones, who is now 29, was 17 when he had sex with Spears. “She had to live a lie so long, and so did Reg,” the source said. “He was 17 when it happened. She was like 14.” Jones, who is a university graduate, told the magazine: “People around us pushed us apart. The agents and everyone would say that I was just a friend of Britney’s, and that’s when I had been dating her for three-and-a-half years, and they’d only known her for six months.”

He also says that Spears and former lover Justin Timberlake had an intimate relationship from the very start. But come on, we all knew that!!

The single for ” until the end of time ” feauring beyonce will hit stores in holand and in the uk his coming monday , and will probably be followed by a us date shorly. ( Virgin megasore sells everything ). Npt sure if this is he official cover or not jus yet.

Rocker JOHN MAYER is obsessed with fellow pop star JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE – and has lavished praise on the SexyBack star. Mayer insists Timberlake’s approach to pop is groundbreaking, and believes the singer’s “awesomeness” is single-handedly altering the face of pop. He writes on his blog, “Those of you who’ve known me for a while are probably familiar with my firm defensive stance when it comes to the state of pop music. I think pop music is on a hot streak right now.” And Mayer is proud of his obsession with his favourite pop track – Timberlake’s LoveStoned/I Think She Knows Interlude. He adds, “Not so much for the LoveStoned part, but for the 45 seconds of ultimate sonic bliss that is I Think She Knows. It’s J.T.’s breakthrough moment as an artist; a novel mix of Coldplay guitar lines, hip hop beats and a vocal approach somewhere in between. I spend the first 3:30 (minutes) preparing for the awesomeness to come. Then I yell at the speakers, ‘Make this 4 minutes long and put it on the next disc!’”
